The 5 Cheapest Places To Travel In The United States In 2022

Since Jazmín has to spend at least 6 months each year in the United States in order not to lose her residence, we decided to plan a car trip touring our favorite destinations in the United States. The truth is that our main concern was our budget, as there are many places worth visiting around the country. That is why we have chosen the 5 cheapest places to travel within the United States in 2022. With this we want to help you to make the most of your time and money.

In this list we have selected our favorite cities and that in our opinion are the most economical and popular. These are cities that are not only beautiful and diverse, but also have enough going on to keep you busy for at least several days. They may not be the most famous cities in the world, such as New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco or Miami, but you should surely visit them because they are worth it.

List of the cheapest destinations to visit within the United States in 2022:

Atlanta is a very beautiful city with the largest aquarium in the Western Hemisphere, the CNN Center and our favorite attraction, the World of Coca Cola. It also has other activities that can be enjoyed by the family, including the children’s museum and the Six Flags amusement park. It is a budget destination when you think about accommodation and food. It also helps with the budget when most of its attractions are around Centennial Olympic Park and you don’t have to spend much on transportation.

To give you an idea, a hotel in Atlanta costs between $70 to $150 USD per night in the heart of the city. It all depends on what quality of hotel you are looking for.

We love Denver, not only because we went to college at Boulder, but because it’s such a diverse and fun city. Our recommendation would be to take a bus to Boulder to visit the famous “Flatirons” rocky mountains. Denver has a beautiful historic downtown area with plenty of activities and bars to enjoy. Many of the activities in and around Denver are outdoors, which makes it easier and cheaper.

To give you an idea, a three-star hotel in Denver costs between $120 to $160 USD per night in the heart of the city. It all depends on what quality of hotel you are looking for. A cheap restaurant costs between 15 USD to 18 USD per person.

3. Vegas

Everyone thinks that Las Vegas is super expensive, but if you do it right it can be super cheap and a lot of fun. The key is to sleep anywhere other than the strip, as long as it’s within 1/4 of a mile in either direction from the strip, as rooms are cheaper for farther away. If you want to enjoy the night life, try to find a promoter, who will take you to a club for free, in the hope that you will be renting a table the next night. If you have a few drinks before going to the party you will save a lot of money.

I love Las Vegas because the hotels are very cheap compared to other cities. You can find a 3-star hotel for only 56 USD and eat for 15 USD. In Las Vegas you can choose whether to spend a lot of money in the hotel or in the casino.

4. Washington, DC

We recommend visiting Washington D.C. because it has an endless supply of free museums and a beautiful zoo. As the nation’s capital, D.C is a unique city with plenty of glamor and beauty. Our favorite activity in D.C. is to walk around the city and explore all its green areas.

A 3 star hotel in Washington DC can cost between $120 USD to 140 USD. The food costs between 18 USD to 25 USD.

5. Fort Lauderdale

If you love the beach, Fort Lauderdale is the place for you. It’s not as crowded as Miami Beach actually, it’s even a little better. Hotels are not that expensive and let’s face it, the fewer people the better. Taking a tour of the Everglades is an extraordinary experience and the truth is that it is not expensive, you can do it for less than $30 USD per person. The one thing you have to keep in mind when traveling to Florida is that you will need to rent a car to get around because public transportation is terrible. Although in Fort Lauderdale it is not so bad.

A hotel in Fort Lauderdale is 1.11 times cheaper than the average price in the rest of the country. For example, a 3 star hotel is between $100 USD to $120 USD. The food costs in a cheap restaurant between 13 USD to 16 USD.
